C. Ferrengi Ships

Ferrengi ships won't attack you if both of your ships are in a major Fed Space lane. Ferrengi ships also do not attack if you enter their sector first. The Scorpion (the strongest Ferrengi) ship cannot be destroyed to my knowledge as of this date (DMD 3/23/96).

Ferrengi wont come into a sector with 15,000 or over 15,000 fighters because a full dreadnought CANT take them all out AND leave 5% for you to contend with. So having 15k figs at the end of your tunnel, will prevent ANY ferrengi except the Scorpion who might turn them. (AX.BBS/TW.NET - ML:Pyro@CLU, 6/25/96)

Ferrengi Assault Trader:

Considering what one must face to obtain one of these ships and it's total lack of scanners, a sensible question to ask is why would you even want to use this ship.

Ferrengi Battle Cruiser:

Again the problems you face with obtaining this ship out weigh any probable uses for it. However if one could be obtained from another trader it could be used as a serviceable ship. It's not a bad ship so long as you can avoid the grudges that come with a one owner model.

Ferrengi Dreadnought:

Evil players may well risk the capture of one of these ships as it's Turn rate, holds, and P-torp abilities combined with the firepower it offers make it a good ship. Again if you can avoid the grudges that come with a one owner model you will find this ship very useful.

Q: Will I show up as a density of 0 if I'm in a Ferrengi Dreadnought?
A: No, Only ferrengi have that privilege. You still show up as 40 and a captured unmanned Dreadnought shows a density of 38.

For anyone who may be curious, or evil players desperate for experience points, the Dreds are worth some points later in the game. At about day 300, I attacked a loaded Dred in the following sequence: 1st attack - 6255 exp pts, 6255 alig. pts, $720K; 2nd attack - 3825 exp pts, 3825 alig. pts, $850K; and 3rd attack - 2780 exp pts, 283 alig pts, $652K. That's a total of 12,860 exp pts and $2.2 MIL for one Dred. Why three attacks on one Dred? I've discovered that using slightly less figs than the Dred's fig amount avoids ending up with a captured ship. Unless that's your objective. The Battle Cruisers aren't as profitable as the Dreds if you're looking for extra points or cash but may come in handy at times. 1st attack - 3594 exp pts, alig pts, $525K and 2nd attack - 2780 exp pts, 175 alig pts, $522K. These figures will vary slightly depending on ship type, amount of figs it has and the length of game (DMD, 1/6/99).

The trade-in value for a Dred is $214,286 in game version 3.01 . (DMD, 1/14/99)

Scorpion

The pilot's name is always "Kvir Rylach" and his ship name is always "Venom." If you attempt to attack it with fighters it gives you a message that a field is preventing your fighters from attacking.
